- Get 1 cup of raw rice.
- Use 1/2 cup of moong dal.

- Take 2 tbsp of ghee.
- You need 2 tsp of cumin seeds.

- You need 10-12 of cashews.

Instructions to make Pongal:
- Dry roast the raw rice and moong day till a nice aroma comes. Then wash it in water for 2-3 times..
- In a pressure cooker, add 2 tbps ghee, add asafoetida, green chillies and ginger and saute. Then add the washed rice and dal and add 4 cups water and salt as required. Pressure cook for 4-5 whistles. Now the rice and dal is cooked..
- For the seasoning, add 2 tbsps ghee, add the cashews and roast till golden brown. To this, add cumin seeds, pepper corns and curry leaves. Now add this to the rice-dal mixture and mix well. Pongal is ready to serve!!!.
- Serve with sambar and chutney!!!.
